What to see, what to do

Baume Bonne cave

400,000 years of human presence, more than 93,000 archaeological objects; discovered by Bernard Bottet in December 1946; listed as a Monument Historique on 7 April 1992. Entrance at 410 m altitude, overlooking the Verdon (43.7003 N, 6.0558 E). Guided visits only, via the museum (booking 04 92 74 09 59).

Musée de Préhistoire des gorges du Verdon

Route de Montmeyan, 04500 Quinson. Archaeological objects from Haute-Provence and the Verdon, with a reconstructed prehistoric village nearby (Préhistosite). Rates not found.

Garde Canal trail

A historic loop along the former Canal du Verdon (built 1866-1875, supplied water to Aix-en-Provence); about 3.3 km laid out as a trail since 2014; wooden footbridges, chapelle Sainte-Maxime.
