Privacy: MCP server and public API

This English version is a courtesy translation: the French version prevails. What the LiveVerdon MCP server and its public API actually do with the data of those who query them.

What this page covers

This page describes the LiveVerdon MCP server (https://liveverdon.com/mcp) and the public API (/api/v1/), used by AI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude…), applications and developers. For the rest of the site (forms, directory, producers), see the “Personal data” section of the legal notice.

What the MCP server does

  • Read-only. It only reads information already published by LiveVerdon: alerts, trail status, swimming, wildfire risk, weather, events, municipalities and services. It cannot change anything, on the site or anywhere else.
  • No account. It is used without signing up, without logging in and without a key. It sets no cookie.
  • No session. Each call is handled on its own: nothing links one call to the next.

What is not recorded

  • LiveVerdon records neither the call parameters nor the responses: the server code writes nothing to a database and keeps no log. It does not read the caller’s IP address.
  • Your location (verdon_nearby tool): latitude and longitude are only used to compute the response, in memory, for the duration of the request. They are neither stored nor logged by LiveVerdon.
  • LiveVerdon does not receive your conversation: the AI assistant only sends the server the parameters of the tool it calls (for example a municipality or a date).

The cache

MCP server responses carry the “no-store” instruction: they must not be kept. To answer quickly, LiveVerdon only keeps the result of two tools (alerts and today’s signal) for up to 5 minutes in the Cloudflare cache. This is public information, the same for everyone: nothing in it shows who asked for it. Public API responses, for their part, may be cached for 1 minute to 1 hour depending on the data; those of a search around a location (/api/v1/nearby) only in a private cache, never in a shared one.

Hosting

The server runs on Cloudflare Pages (Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, United States). As with any connection to a website, Cloudflare processes the IP address and technical request data to route it and protect the service, under its own privacy policy (cloudflare.com/privacypolicy).

The sources queried

To answer, LiveVerdon consults official sources (Météo-France, VigiEau, the French Health Ministry, the wildfire risk forecast) and MET Norway for the weather. It queries them with the coordinates of the requested municipality, never with your location, and without any data about you.

Your AI assistant

What your assistant (ChatGPT, Claude or another) does with your conversation and the responses it receives is governed by its own privacy policy, not by LiveVerdon’s.
